The Queen's Guard.

Today's trip to Windsor Castle was extremely enjoyable. It's home to the lovely Queen of England. Unfortunately she was out riding her horses today, but we personally arranged a rain check for our tea party. It's gonna happen.

It was really fun to take a guided tour of the castle and learn about the many royal heirs who have lived (and still live) there, how and when different things were built, etc. I wish I could remember everything that every tour guide has told me... I'd be a walking encyclopedia. We also took a media tour (using a little digital device and headphones) throughout the majority of the castle. We saw the doll house of the castle, which was really neat! It was interesting to learn a lot more about the Queen (even though we're already great friends and all) and the way the monarchy works. It's intriguing because there's nothing like those beautiful massive castles and crazy guards and royal heirs in the U.S...just very foreign concepts.

The people-shy tour guide. I was trying to pay attention to the cool facts he was teaching, but I kept getting distracted by the fact that he wouldn't make eye contact with me. Or anyone else. Please look into my eyes when you speak to me, sir.

Incredible landscaping.

The changing of the guard. From afar.

This was hilarious... he couldn't open the gate. Twice.

Don't ask me what my face is trying to say. I don't know.

I love these girls!

Enjoying a little sunshine.

Speaking of guards, I had an interesting encounter with a particular one today. The guards are silent. They don't say a word. They don't smile, wave, dance (unless you consider marching and stomping your feet every two seconds to be dancing), or anything of the sort. No fun allowed. However, today outside the castle, there were dozens of people taking turns getting a photo taken with one guard, so I wanted to join in. I watched and waited my turn, ran up to stand by him so Kyla could take my picture, and said hello. "Hello," he said quietly in return. My initial response was "holy smokes, you're not a robot!" because I've never seen a trace of human being out of any of them. I looked over at him, and not only did he speak, but he was smiling! A very subtle and kind of creepy smile. Hey, that's not allowed either. Who is this guard? Then he leaned over slightly and whispered, "Well you're looking very nice today." I wasn't quite sure how to respond, so I smiled and thanked him and ran back to Kyla so we could switch places. As we were leaving this mysterious guard, Kyla informed me that as she was standing next to him, he told her to make sure to tell me that he thinks I'm sexy. What d'ya know? The Queen's guard thinks I'm sexy. That's something you don't hear every day.

Meet my new best friend...

The BYU Singers have been traveling the UK, and tonight was their last performance at St. John's. In case you were wondering, they sound the same here as they do in America. It was a great performance, and it was nice to see a few more familiar faces. It was a little bit of a proud-to-be-a-Cougar moment.

Wish me luck... Church is tomorrow. I definitely love church, I'm just hoping it doesn't turn into another seven-hour affair. Pray that we don't get lost AGAIN. G'night!
